Man Shot in Harlesden as Police Hunt for Gunman Harlesden, London ??? A man in his 20s has been hospitalized following a shooting on Washbourne Road in Harlesden on the evening of Thursday, December 19. Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene at around 9:10 PM after reports of gunfire. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) also attended and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening. Ongoing Investigation A large crime scene remains in place on Washbourne Road as detectives conduct inquiries. Officers are yet to make any arrests, and the gunman remains at large. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement urging witnesses to come forward: "Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, believed aged in his 20s, with a gunshot injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment ??? his condition is not life-threatening. A crime scene remains in place. There has been no arrest, and enquiries into the circumstances continue." Community Concerns Residents of Harlesden have expressed concerns about rising violence in the area. While the exact motive for the shooting is unclear, locals hope the increased police presence will lead to swift justice. But locals have poked fun at them saying they look like sparkly pants hung up on a washing line. Stephen Kellett said: "If they're not meant to look like underpants what were they intending them to look like? "I really can't see anything other than underpants." Matt added: "It?s like a magic eye, once you see it." Michele Anne Chambers said: "I mean yes they do look like underwear. "I'm not bothered about it though." They were spotted in Fleet, Hampshire. Darren Wilson joked: "All we are saying is give Fleet some pants." Town pen pushers saw the funny side of it, as reported by?What's The Jam. A Fleet Town Council spokesperson said: "This wasn?t quite what we had in mind. ?But whether you see them as pants, lanterns or simply modern lighting we?re delighted to hear our streetlights are sparking joy, conversation and unexpected humour in the community. GV of Greggs in Swaffham, Norfolk. December 20, 2024. A posh market town has lost its battle to stop a Greggs' store opening on its high street. More than 1,000 residents in Swaffham, Norfolk, signed a petition and locals threatened a boycott after the chain submitted plans to move into a vacant unit. Townsfolk said big name businesses aren't welcome in the pretty high street amid fears it would kill of a popular family-run bakery. The new shop opened last month without planning permission, but locals still held out hope the local council would take enforcement action against the company. But town hall chiefs have granted the bakery giant the retrospective permission to stay open in a unit left vacant when a budget furniture store closed last year. While Greggs did not require planning permission for use of the former QD Furniture unit, the applications lodged with Breckland Council sought approval for an illuminated sign, a new air conditioning system and an outdoor seating area. It comes after Karl Chappell, a regular customer at Wellbread Bakers, launched a petition against the new Greggs store, attracting more than 1,000 signatures. Wellbread has been based in the town for several decades and loyal customers pledged to boycott the rival bakery if it opened in the town.
